Raspberry Tart Thank you

For this card, I was playing with heat embossing on Raspberry Tart DSP. I learned if you heat it too long, the coloring changes in the DSP. If you look closely you can see some slight yellowing on the bottom left hand corner. I actually liked the look of it for this card so I kept it. I stamped the Upsy Daisy flowers with Versamark and then used Black embossing powder and heated it. I used the Scallop Oval punch from the Occasions Mini Catalog for the saying and the Scallop Edge punch for an added detail behind the image. I layered everything on Cameo Coral cardstock and added black brads for detail.

Spring has Sprung

This is a card my upline designed. It was a make and take at our group meeting. I love the idea and used the layout idea on a card I posted last week. I was able to play with the Basic Small Grommets that are in the Occasions Mini Catalog. The are so easy to use. You just push them through the cardstock and then use the small hammer in the Crafters' Tool Kit and open up the teeth on the back to flatten them out. We then filled the grommets in with Crystal Effects. We water colored the flower and pot and flower with blender pens and ink pads. I love using Stampin' Up! ink pads for water coloring. They are made to have a flexible lid so when the ink pad is closed you push the lid up to hit the ink and then open the pad. You then have your own personal watercolor palette on the lid.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I have already enjoyed sleeping in until 7:00am(not being sarcastic, that really is sleeping in) and my daughter and husband are making me waffles! Life doesn't get any better than this.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to a special pampering of moms with their daughters yesterday to set up a table for them to make a Mother's Day card. These were all new stampers and some young girls to I needed to make this quick and simple. Here is what I came up with.

They all had a great time and one little girl came back to the table to make a second card after making one for her mom and then showed her mom how to make on. She was whispering to me and said she was making a surprise card to give her grandmother today (her grandmother was there). I was so touched that this young girl was thinking of her grandma on this special day as well.

Sense of Time

This is a card my upline Rene did for a swap. I love how she made the card look aged. You ball the cardstock up and make it "wrinkled". Then you take a stamping sponge and lightly go over the top of the "wrinkles" with the same or darker color. The ink highlights the "wrinkles" to age your paper. She used the Sense of Time stamp set available in the Occasions Mini Catalog. I like that the card uses neutral colors and the uniqueness of the ribbon placement.

Accordion Album

This is an accordion album that I offered as a Mother's Day Gift Class last week. It is a 4x4" album and can be displayed on a desk/shelf or carried around in a purse to show off. I used many supplies but overall the project is fairly simple. I cut two 4" strips of 12x12 cardstock and scored each one at 4" and 8". You then fold it alternately like and accordion and glue them together (we used Stampin' Up! glue sticks). I used 4x4" coasters for each end and covered with Sweet Always DSP after rounding the corners. All layered paper inside measures 3 3/4"x3 3/4". The small borders measure 3 3/4"x 1". All squares are covered and decorated on the front and back. I used Sweet Always DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White (All colors found in the DSP). I used the Petal Pizzazz stamp set on this project. If you want to add more squares, just cut and score a third piece of the 4"x12" cardstock (any more than three will be too thick).

Tip: When you adhere your image to the front, make sure you raise it up on dimensionals so the ribbon can slide under it.

Tip 2: When you add your embellishments be sure to alternate them in placement so when the album is closed, it closes evenly.

Pumpkin Petal Pizzazz

This was a swap I made for our group swap. I used Sweet Always DSP and from that picked my other colors. I picked Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip. I stamped the flower image from Petal Pizzazz and then punched it again in Chocolate Chip and used the 1/2" circle punch to punch out the center and attached it with a dimensional to give it some lift. I finished it off by using the Scallop Edge punch to put a little extra on the bottom of the card.

Wild About You at the Zoo

Since it is National Scrapbooking Month, we did a 12x12 layout for club. All club members are moms so we did a layout for the zoo. I love to have pictures and journaling tell my story. Here is my family's recent trip. We used Brilliant Blue, Mellow Moss and Chocolate Chip added with the Wild About You stamp set to accomplish this. I love the new Jumble Alphabet set that is 20% off this month! It will become my new favorite Alphabet.
