Punch Ladybug Card

One of my daughter's friends is having a ladybug birthday party. This is the 3x3 gift card I came up with. I used Gable Green as the card color. I punched Regal Rose with the Scallop Circle punch and then used 1" circle punch for the head and the 1 3/8" Circle punch for the body. I sponged around this piece and stamped "for you" from the All Holiday Stamp set. I then put the whole card through the Big Shot using the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds Texture Dies. I loved how it turned out. I like the technique of putting the whole card together and then embossing it.

Scrapbooking 101-The way I organize

As I was starting to get caught up on my scrapbooking, I thought I would let you in on my process. I have been asked often how to begin and this is the way I have found easiest. Know, however, that when you talk to people who scrapbook there is no right or wrong way, there are many ways, and you need to do what is the most comfortable and easy way for YOU!

  • Take the pictures

  • I load the pictures onto the Wal-Mart website under photos and order from there so I can pick them up or have them shipped to me. It saves me time in the store. I like to upload pictures by month. At the end of March, for example, I will have a March picture file and will start a new one for April.

  • I order 1 month at a time. This allows me to save time and allows me not to go through a HUGE pile of pictures and reorganize.

  • I put the pictures in order as they happened. I pull out what I want to scrapbook and then put the rest in the photo album. (I do buy the photo albums that have the journaling lines in them. This way I can still write what happened even if it does not get scrapbooked. ) I have learned that I don't have to scrapbook EVERYTHING! I do main events or things I have a lot of pictures of that made a memory.

  • Then I start to Scrapbook!

I will add some more of how I do that another day. Maybe I will even have some examples to show you. That would mean I got some scrapbooking done. My goal is to get some pages done today during naptime.

Cupcake Wishes

As I have mentioned before, March and April are big birthday months in our family. This is the card I came up with for my brother. I wanted it cheerful but somewhat masculine. I think I pulled it off. I came up with my own color choice of Green Galore, Not Quite Navy and Pumpkin Pie. I love how the colors work with each other. If you are not sure which colors will work together, you can use our Color Coach. It is a full proof way of matching colors when you venture outside a color group.

Birthday Thank-you

My daughter, Lorin, is turning 3 on April 2nd. These are the thank you cards I am making for her. She will have to sign her name at the bottom. She is having a "Fancy Nancy" party so I will take pictures of each girl dressed up and put the picture on the back. I loved this stamp when I saw it because it can grow with kids and be versatile when they out grow it. I love my punches and here the spiral punch being showcased.

Instructions for the Patchwork card

I posted this picture the other day but said instructions were to follow so here I am. I was "blog surfing" and I saw this beautiful patchwork idea. I looked at it and thought, "wow, someone took a long time on that and look at all the sewing." Well, when I read directions, I saw how easy it was and had to try my hand at it. (I could not find the blog where I saw this so if it was you or you know who it was that came up with this idea please let me know so I can give credit.) I cut a piece of neutral cardstock the size of the Top Note Die for the Big Shot. Then I punched out squares of Raspberry Tart DSP. I used the anywhere glue stick and glued them all down. I put the patchwork through the Big Shot and then used the Basic Black marker to draw stitching (xxx) on the borders. It was so easy! I LOVE how it turned out. This Raspberry Tart DSP is becoming one of my favorites. I am now working on one with the Washington Apple DSP. I will
share when I complete it.

Update: Here is a website to see more instructions for this card. Thank you to Melissa for this information.

My Take on the Card Challenge Winner

This is what I came up with after being inspired by Ami's card. I loved the idea of using a square punch to change the look of the Scallop Circle punch. Keep Looking

Please keep coming by to look at my blog. I would love to hear some of your comments. I am new at this and want to make this blog helpful and inspiring. I am sorry I have not been as up to date lately with me being out of town and my family coming into town but now that my family is headed back home, I can catch back up. I am making it a goal to give myself time to work on my scrapbooking. So to do this, I will be sharing my projects with you as I complete them.

Card Challenge Winner!

Ami was our card challenge winner in March. She made this beautiful card! I love all the detail work she did. For the flower, she took the Scallop Circle punch and then used a square punch to cut out the little corners off the scallop. Does that make sense? I also love that she used white grosgrain ribbon and the stamping sponges to put it through the Old Olive ink pad. With this technique, you can make any color ribbon you may need. Look at the cute little knot on the stem! So many ideas to copy! Check back tomorrow on my take of this card. It was very inspiring.
Thank you to all those who participated in the challenge. I loved each and every card. They were very diverse and I will use ideas from each.

Mojo Monday #78

Here was this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I turned the sketch on its side to design my card. I used Chocolate Chip DSP, Cameo Coral and Pumpkin Pie for my colors. I colored the party hats from the Party Hearty stamp set with my markers. I did my "huffing" on the stamp to re-wet the markers and then stamped my image. I used my Big Shot texture plates again to mimic the dots on the DSP (it needed a little something). I frayed my ribbon and instead of adding a bow, I added a corduroy button (so yummy).

A Little Something

Well, I was looking again to see what paper I had tons of. I saw my Perfect and Pale Plum. I decided to use my Flight of the Butterfly stamp set to make this card. I also made a "secret" pull out card. I was also playing with my Big Shot, I know, surprising right? I used the texture plates again as well as the Top Note Die. I used the Yummy stamp set from Sale-A-Bration. Remember, spend $50 and you get to pick your choice of 1 item out of the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. This promotion is only good until March 31st so make sure you take advantage of it. Time is running out! Check out the link on the right to see what you can get!
I will try to get supplies written down but I am a little behind and now have my sister and her daughter in town and my parents coming for the weekend. I am just trying to get a picture up for you daily. It will get back to normal after Tuesday next week. Hopefully, I will have a new blog picture, of me, for you soon. My sister is working on her photography and told me I needed a better picture. We are going to work on it. Keep on the lookout.
Thanks for stopping by,
Katy

Scallop Envelope Box with Cards

More fun with my Big Shot! This is using four cut outs of the Scallop Envelope die. You adhere them together with Tombow multi purpose adhesive and you have a box to decorate as you see fit. I love my blues and browns so I used Chocolate Chip DSP with Brocade blue to decorate my box. I made some matching 3x3 cards and envelopes and now I have a great gift idea. Think of what you can use this for: Easter baskets (may see this in a later post), baby/wedding shower favors, favors for kids birthdays, etc. The possibilities are endless. See what you can come up with.

Celebrate You Birthday

My Brother-In-Law's birthday is around the corner so you are seeing his card. I made this card to fit a gift card. I made this card to fit a Whisper White small open-end envelope. This card measures 6 1/2" x 3 1/4". When I cut it out I made the length closer to 8". Then I cut the front flap off at 6 1/2". This left the 2 1/2" flap on the inside to add a gift card. I put a small square of white on the inside to write our birthday greetings. This was fun to make and I was so proud that I was able to come up with my own template. I will be doing this again.

4x4 Custom Envelope

You have made a beautiful 4x4 card, but what are you going to do about an envelope? Again, another demonstrator, Mary Fish, had this idea on her blog and now I am 4x4 card fanatic. Take one of our Medium envelopes and lick it shut. Turn on its side and cut at 4 3/4". This will give you an open top. Add some Designer Series Paper to make your flap and you have a matching envelope to your 4x4 card! So easy but what an impact!

4x4 gift card holder

Another Demonstrator had this card idea on her blog and I loved it. I am a big gift card giver because I know the recipient will be able to get whatever he/she wants. This is a very easy card idea that will dress up any gift card. Cut cardstock to 12x4". Score at 4" and 8". Score the center square at a diagonal and fold. You will need to adhere the center fold down but leave plenty of room for the gift card. Dress up the front of the card and you have a easy but beautiful wrapping for that special someone. Check in tomorrow for an envelope idea to go with this 4x4 card.

Dryer Sheet?

Do you use dryer sheets and just throw them away when you are done? Well, here is another way you can use them to create cards! To do this, just stamp your image in a bold color, I used black, and I cut the dryer sheet down to size to cover my white cardstock and overlap slightly. I adhered it to the back and layer it on Pretty in Pink. I love the soft look it brings to the card. Who would have thought dryer sheets?

Criss Cross Card Repost

You are not seeing double. I am re-posting with more information that was left out of the last post. Ami saw this post and let me know that I forgot to put information on how to make this card. I remember finishing the post but I obviously did not save it. Sorry for any confusion. Beate Johns came up with this idea and has a great tutorial for you to check out and try yourself. I will be making plenty more of these.

Luggage Tag

So I thought I would try something different. You know when you travel, you can never find you bags? Well, I decided to make a luggage tag to make it easier. I, of course, used my favorite DSP (Washington Apple) and a retired chipboard letter "z". I adhered the DSP onto a 4x4" coaster and ran it through the Big Shot. Are you surprised? It cut without a hitch. Then I put it all together and punched a hole to add ribbon and another yummy corduroy brad. Nobody will have a tag like this!

Today is my husband's birthday so you are getting to see his card. I had so much fun making this card. To do the slot for the tag, I used the horizontal slot punch and punched it a few times beside each other. I love the little birthday hat on the "b". Party Hearty

We did this card at my birthday card class. The hats are done with markers and we did the "huffing" technique (yes, that is the technical term). When you are done coloring with markers on the stamp you breathe on it. Your breath creates the moisture which re-wets the ink. Again, this is not original. I saw this idea somewhere on the web and fell in love with the colors and design. Have you realized I am very good at copying. You can be too. You don't have to come up with everything all on your own. That is why Stampin' Up! has the best idea book and catalog. You can copy everything in it!

Textured Monogram

I love the simplicity of this card. It would make a great gift idea for anyone. I used a very neutral background and embossed with the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 texture plates for the Big Shot. For the Scallop Circle, punch a circle in the cardstock first and then punch with the scallop around it. This will give you the opening you need. Then punch a circle in your neutral and stamp your initial. Add some ribbon and you are done.

Inspiration Creation

So I was playing with my daughter and she put on her chef hat to make me some food. I love this hat and was inspired to stamp something. You can see what I came up with. Don't look too closely at the sprinkles. I used the tombow multi purpose adhesive for the first time and it does not dry like Elmers so you can see where the sprinkles slid. Well, it is a great adhesive but you live and learn. I have used it on things since and it works wonders. Just goes to show you that you never know when inspiration will hit.
